Glen Cove is a city on the North Shore of Long Island and is one of two of Nassau County's five municipalities that is a city, rather than a town. In 1834 the town officially changed names from the unattractive Musketa Cove to its present name Glen Cove. From the 1680s up until the early 1900s, The Town of Oyster Bay had jurisdiction over the area until officially becoming an independent city in 1917. Glen Cove has its own police, fire protection, and emergency medical services. Both the fire department and emergency medical services are volunteer agencies. The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for the planning, coordination and response to natural and man-made emergencies that occur within the City of Glen Cove.
The City of Glen Cove was long hailed for its gleaming waterfront vistas making it an attractive location for the titans of industry who built large expansive and virtually secluded estates along its hilly inlands and rocky shorelines. What was once considered home to the Pratts and Woolworths with their rolling farm lands and private estates has become diverse residential communities comprised of single and multi-family homes along with a revitalized central business district.

Glen Cove has an extensive waterfront appeal for beach and boating enjoyment. Situated on Hempstead Harbor, three public beaches: Crescent Beach, Morgan Beach (at Morgan Park), and Prybil Beach are well-utilized year round. For boaters, Hempstead Harbour Yacht Club, Glen Cove City Yacht Club, and the Garvies Point Boating Association are the three major sailing clubs within City limits. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy watching Sailboat races from a cliff-top park in the neighboring village of Sea Cliff and from various points on the hills of Garvies Point Preserve.
There are a variety of transportation options including the Oyster Bay Rail line with stations in Sea Cliff, Glen Street and Glen Cove; a Bus Line with routes into Flushing, Queens and Hempstead and an express Bus offering commuter transit between Glen Cove and Manhattan.

Glen Head
The hamlet of Glen Head is a quaint North Shore area with many smaller communities within its borders including North Shore Acres, Harbor View, Radcliff, Hill Terrace, Plymouth Estates and Todd Estates. Home styles vary from Capes, Ranches, High Ranches and Colonials with a few neo-Victorians. The main thoroughfares of Glen Head Road and Glen Cove Avenue traverse north to south winding around and through the center of the hamlet. The Glen Head Country Club, founded in 1947, is regarded as one of the finest clubs on Long Island. It is situated on over 160 acres of land encompassing a 6,700 yard, par 71 Devereaux Emmet designed golf course.

Sea Cliff
Fondly known as The Victorian Village by the Sea, the Incorporated Village of Sea Cliff sits high on the bluff overlooking the pristine Long Island Sound. Only one square mile, Sea Cliff is rich in community life and social activity. With 16 neighborhood parks including Harry Tappan Beach, Sea Cliff Municipal Park and Elm Park (a.k.a Spooky Park), residents can have their pick of natures’ many splendors. Sea Cliff is approximately 23 miles from Midtown Manhattan. Commuters may choose to take the LIRR or drive via the Long Island Expressway which takes about 55 minutes.
